10/10: Today we began Lord of the Flies by setting the mood! A survival test, an island simulation and watching ten minutes of the plan crash in Cast Away.

10/17: We had class time to work, complete chapter 4!
10/18: vocab. words 10-12. We discussed chapter 4. I began reading chpt 5 out loud. HOMEWORK: complete chapter 5 to get ready for the quiz tomorrow!

10/24: Finished chapter 6. Create a list of 5 symbols and defend them. Quiz tomorrow!

11/3: We did a "silent" discussion writing activity in class. Read chapter 12. Quiz tomorrow.

11/7: Today we reviewed for the test tomorrow! STUDY!
11/8: FINAL LORD OF THE FLIES TEST!
11/9-11: Compare and contrast Lord of the Flies with the Uruguayan plane crash of 1973
11/14: We finished up the movie ALIVE and discussed the similarities to the book. We then were assigned our formal paper which will be due the day before Thanksgiving.
11/15-18: prewriting and writing/typing our papers
11/21-23: Continue the writing process. Rough draft/edit/final draft: DUE WED!
11/27: Today we begin Shakespeare's Julius Caesar! Today is just pretest and NOTES on background info.
11/28: QUIZ on the background info. We continue NOTES on characters. Begin Act 1 scene 1
11/29: Continue Act 1
11/30: Finish Act 1. Watch movie. Take quiz.
12/5-12/9: This week we will focus on Act II of Julius Caesar. Monday we took the quiz for Act 1. Tuesday I introduced the "Assassination Project." This project (which you can do with a partner) you will research a person who was assassinated. Your information will be presented NEXT WEEK in a power point/skit/poster. This assignment is worth 25 points. Remember to schedule a time for you recitation (worth 40 points).
12/12-12/16: Monday we start with an Act II quiz. We put some finishing touches on our assassination project. Presentations of this project begin Tuesday. We will go through about five projects a day. With the other half of the hour we will continue on to read Act III (the climax of the play!) and view Act III throughout the week.
12/19-12/22: Monday we finish up Act III (and view Marlon Brando's speech). ACT III QUIZ on Tuesday. Act V. We'll review for the vocab. quiz throughout the week. VOCAB. QUIZ THURSDAY!
1/3-1/6: Monday we finish up Act IV. Act IV QUIZ on TUESDAY! We'll also go over the final essay topics on Tuesday. Students can get a jump start on the paper. We will begin and hopefully finish up ACT V this week.
